Born on September 6, 1961 at Keyser, WV, he was a son of L. Jean (Gentry) Alt of Keyser and the late Charles Vohn Alt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Tracy Dawn (Harman) Alt; a daughter, Ashley Dawn Alt; his paternal grandparents, Homer Glen Alt, Sr. and Lucille Virginia Alt and his maternal grandmother, Leona Gentry Liller.
Mr. Alt was employed as a mechanic with the Dominion Power Company at the Mt. Storm Power Plant with 24 years of service. A 1979 graduate of Keyser High School, he was an avid motorcyclist, and was a member of the FB Bike Club. He loved hunting, his dogs and being in the outdoors and was a dedicated NASCAR fan.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two daughters, Mia Leigh Alt and fiancé, Jerry Sweitzer and Holly Jo Alt and boyfriend, John Oglesbee, all of Keyser; one brother, Scott Alt and one sister, Pam Fazenbaker and husband Doug, all of Keyser. Also surviving are his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Harman of Keyser, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a step-grandchild, Erica Sweitzer, and a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends. Chuck and Tracy were also very excited about the upcoming birth of their future grandchild.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, October 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
A joint funeral service for Mr. Alt and his wife was conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Linhart officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Chuck's daughters, Mia and Holly Alt at 1090 Carolina Avenue, Keyser, WV 26726.
Interment was in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
