William Joseph Johnson, 80, at the Shadyside formerly of Bellaire, Ohio died Saturday June 29, 2002 at the Shadyside Care Cemtery. He was born March 6, 1922 in Bellaire, a son of the late William and Idella Wieneke Johnson.
Bill was a retired owner of the Nationwide Insurance Company in Bellaire, with 45 years of service; a member of the Bellaire Christian Church, Masonic Ionic Lodge #438 for 50 years; of Belliare, was president of the Belliare Cemetery Associaion for many years and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Howard Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Lora Wright Johnson; three daughters; Janice Harris and her husband Phil of Hebron, Bonnie Johnson and Lynne Davis, both of Shadyside, a brother, Rev. Paul Johnson of Nelsonville, Ohio three sisters Joyce Marie Mellott and her husband Francis Elizabeth Stillion and her husband Robert, all of Shadyside, and Rose Mildred Farmer of Bellaire; five granddaughters, one grandson and one great grandson.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441 37th Street, Belliare Ohio, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Belliare, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Public Library System.
Masonic services will be held on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Full military graveside services with Belmont County Council will conclude all services.
