Marian Emily Beightel, 86, Holton, died Saturday, September 4, 1999, at a Holton hospital. Mrs. Beightel worked at the Gossip Printery and J. C. Penny, both in Holton. She also was a community correspondent for the Holton Recorder newspaper for thirty years.
She was born June 15, 1913, in Delia, the daughter of Fred R. and Anna Catherine Stephenson Osborn. She was a lifelong resident of the Olive Hill area, and she graduated from Soldier High School in 1931. Mrs. Beightel was a member of the Buck's Grove Methodist church.
She married Clarence Wilbur Beightel Jr. on October 16, 1940, at Soldier. He died June 4, 1955. Survivors include a son, C. W. Beightel, III, Lawrence; two daughters, Evelyn Allen, Circleville; and Anna Cairney, Atchison; a sister, Annabelle Markham, Ashland, Oregon; a brother, Robert Osborn, Manhattan; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was in Olive Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buck's Grove Methodist church or to the Holton Hospital and sent in care of the Farmer's State Bank at Circleville 66416 or at Holton 66436.
