Selma Adeline Hooten, 104, of Effingam, died Sunday, December 15, 2002, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, IL.

Mrs. Hooten was born August 11, 1898, in Effingam, the daughter of William and Anna Hinch Frankenstein. She married Paul G. Hooten November 17, 1923 and he died in 1983.

She was a primary teacer in Effingham County for 50 years and had taught Sunday school in the primary department at St. John's Lutheran Churc, Effingham, for more than 30 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Alta Delta Kappa Teachers' Society and Retired Teacher Association, and was a charter member of the Effingam American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her niece, Carol Cox; nephews, Bob Frank, Paul William Franklund; several great-nepews and great-nieces as well as great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Paul and Carlton.

The funeral service was held at Bauer Funeral Home with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Effingam.
