FORT PLAIN. Jan 11—Alfred G. Van Etta, 69, life long resident of Fort Plain, died at his home on Stale Street yesterday afternoon at 3:50 o'clock. He had been ill for a long time, having suffered a stroke about a year ago. His wife died about two months ago.

He was born in Fort Plain, August 2, 1881, the son of Jacob and Mary Nichols Van Etta. He worked on the old Erie Canal and for a number of years was employed in the Selwood Monument Works in Fort Plain.

The survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Nelson Ambridge, St. Johnsville; three sisters, Mrs. Lulu Morrell, Mrs. Thomas Conrad, and Mrs. Roy Ferguson, Fort Plain; two brothers, John of Canajoharie and Hiram of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will bo held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Gray funeral home. The Rev. William M. Knorr of the Baptist Church will officiate. The body will be placed in the Catherine Nellis Memorial vault for burial in the Fort Plain Cemetery in the Spring.
