HICO — Forrest Carl Osborne, 75, of Hico, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008.
Carl was born in Landisburg, W.Va., on July 26, 1933, to Hinkle and Ira Hanshew Osborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Puckett, and brother, Eugene Osborne.
Carl graduated from Nuttall High School in 1951. Carl is a retired Project Supervisor from WV Department of Highways.
Carl served in the U.S. Army. He was a 50-year member of Longdale Masonic Lodge, where he received a 50-year pin and was Past Master. He was also a member of Longdale Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Patron for 24 consecutive years.
Carl was a member of Lovers Leap Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a former president of the Fayette County Historical Society.
Carl was awarded the "Silver Beaver" for his service to the Boy Scouts.
Carl and his wife, Helen, took two mission trips with their church to Costa Rica and Nicaraqua.
Survivors include wife, Helen Campbell Osborne; sons, Dale (Debra) of Rockwell, N.C., Marshall (Susan) of Fairfax, Va., and Brian (Cindy) of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Grandchildren include Matthew, Jacob, Kate, Brent and Rachel.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted with the Rev. Verlin Secrist officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Of Rest Mausoleum at Victor.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home
Pallbearers will be Carl Kessler, Matthew Osborne, Gary Taylor, Kerr David Cole, Gerry Isaacs and David White.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Historical Society, 2490 Miller Ridge Road, Hico, WV 25854.
