Son of John Henry and Rebecca(Pease)Cram, he was one of seven children. When the news of Gold in California reached hi family they joined a wagon train and arrived in San Diego in 1852. The family buisness, a furniture building shop in Redlands. Lewis later set out orange trees in 1857 in what is now East Highlands. Lewis and Anson VanLeuven are recognized as having been the ones to introduce the first citrus plantings in this section of the country.
Lewis F.Cram and Sarah Ann Wakefield were married in Highland on September 27,1866. Father of seven children;
