Carlyle Hahn Darling, 82, of Vestal, died Thursday, October 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Jean Kirkland Darling, Vestal; one daughter, Angela Faidley and husband Stephen, Macungie, Pa.; four sons, Dennis Darling and wife Helen, Austin, Tex., Kirkland Darling, Binghamton, N.Y., Scott Darling and wife Mary, Susquehanna, Pa., Sean Darling and wife Kelli, Troutville, Va.; 12 grandchildren, William, Amanda, Samantha and Taylor Faidley, Macungie, Pa., Cameron and Carson Darling, Austin, Tex., Sarah and Rebecca Darling, Susquehanna, Pa., Brandon, Alexander, Christopher and Jessica Darling, Troutville, Va.; brothers, Edward and wife Margaret, Binghamton, N.Y., and Arthur, Macedon, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Katherine, wife of deceased brother Eugene, Johnson City, N.Y.; also several nieces and nephews.
Carlyle was the son of the late Archabald and Minnie Darling, Johnson City, N.Y. Carlyle was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal since 1956. He served in the 8th Air Force during WWII as a Navigator on a B-17. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for two years. He was a staff engineer of IBM, Endicott, N.Y., retiring in 1982.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. All friends and family are invited to join in the celebration of Carlyle's life.
