RIVERTON - Wilford Jacob Myers, 94, passed away at his home in Riverton, March 18, 1985 of natural causes.
Wilford was born March 25, 1890 in Riverton, Utah to Jacob and Anna Margaret Johnson Myers. He spent most of his life there. He served an LDS Mission to the Northern States from 1911 to 1913. He married Edna Mary Llloyd, March 24, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died June 25, 1977. He was the first bishop of the Riverton 2nd LDS Ward, which position he held from 1927 to 1933. The Chapel was erected under his leadership. Wilford was a farmer for many years, he was engaged in several mining operations and also was a steamfitter. He was a precinct chairman of the Republican Party, Director on the Utah and Salt Lake Canal Board and Director in the Riverton Farms Dairy Assoc. He attended schools in Riverton.
Survived by sons, Newell L., Murtaugh, Idaho; Dr. Merlin G., Pleasant Grove; Allan J., Murray; daughters, Mrs. R.W. (Joyce) Stott, Layton; Mrs. O.L. (Mildred) Larsen, Midvale and Mrs. C.R. (Helen) Gardner, Murray; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; he was preceded in death by a son, Ellis W.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 22 at 12:00 Noon in the Riverton 4th Ward Chapel, 12574 South 1700 West ... Burial: Riverton City Cemetery.
