JULIUS A DIGIOIA

Luke — Julius A. DiGioia, 81, of 327 Fairview St., Luke, and most recently of the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, died Sunday Sept. 22, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.

Born May 9, 1921, in Piedmont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Carlo and Josephine (Cantarone) DiGioia. Two sisters, Mary Linkswiler, and Josephine Littlefield; and one brother, Michael DiGioia also preceded him in death.

Mr. DiGioia was retired from Westvaco Corp. with 45 years of service, having worked in the cutter room. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the 406th Infantry Division in the European Theatre. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, a member of the Luke Volunteer Fire Co., and a member of Kelly Mansfield Post 52 American Legion, Piedmont.

Surviving is his wife; Emma (Ward) DiGioia of Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland; one son, Bob DiGioia and wife Ronni of Oakland; one daughter, Julie Ann McKenzie and husband Steve of Rawlings; one brother, Anthony DiGioia of Westernport; one sister, Felice Boal of Westernport; and six grandchildren, Matthew McKenzie, Jared McKenzie, Nathaniel McKenzie, Patrick DiGioia, Dylan DiGioia, and Elliot DiGioia.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport on Thursday at noon.

Inurnment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe directed to the Hope Lodge, Lexington Ave., Baltimore, MD.
