John moved with his family to Cannon, Texas from Kentucky at the age of 10-years-old. He finished school at the tenth grade and became a blacksmith like his father. This is written on the 1900 Census. Shortly after, John married 17-yr-old, Bloomer Dunn on September 8, 1901 (See copy of marriage index in gallery.); they had 7 children. Rumor is that John died of an illness. To my knowledge, there is no death certificate or it burned during the fire at the Sherman Courthouse.
--John and Bloomer possibly met at church in, Cannon, Texas or, Sunday night at the Cannon General Store. The store was a regular meeting place for young couples.
--Update. John's obituary has been found. He died after 11 days of battling tuberculosis. Judging from the article, he was at a hospital. Possibly, St. Vincent's in Sherman.
