She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Don Rufner; son, Rick Rufner of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Deb Rufner of Maineville, Ohio; grandsons Dan and Kevin Rufner, granddaughter Britt Larson, and great-grandchildren Brady and Annika Rufner. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Anna (Cheseldine) Fraser and sisters, Maxine Lesan and Jeanette Carder, all of Lebanon, Ohio.
A 1946 graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing where she was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She combined her love of children with her passion for education when she became a school nurse for the Kettering School District in 1957 where she worked for the next 25 years serving as Coordinator of School Health Services 1968-1982. Her contribution was recognized with awards as Outstanding School Nurse of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Nurses in 1981 and induction into the Chester A. Roush Hall of Fame by the Kettering School District in 2001. But nothing was more important to her than her family. In keeping with her commitment to advancing medicine, Peggy donated her body to the Wright State University College of Medicine.
