Louisa Armintha Basom, daughter of Daniel L. and Sarah Basom, was born in Licking Colunty, Ohio, June 29, 1861; died at her home in Alma township, Marion County, Illinois, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 8 days.
At the age of 7 years she came, with her parents, to Marion County and settled on a farm in Red Lick Prairie where she resided until her marriage to Phillip M. Griffin, March 4, 1885, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1910.
To this union three sons were born, Jesse, Fred and his twin brother, Frank, and Earl who died in infancy.
Mrs. Griffin was a woman of sterling qualities, never seeking notoriety, but content to live the quiet life of a country farm woman, administrating to the wants of her family and especially that of her son Jesse who has been a cripple since early childhood. She was a firm believer in the Primitive Baptist faith and while she never united with the church, she lived the life of a Christian woman. She is survived by two sons, Jesse and Fred; three grandchildren Philip, John and Elizabeth; two brothers, John W. and Joshua; one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Hite and a number of other relatives and
