Orbrey C. Boothe Jr., 55, of Colonial Heights and Surry County, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at the family home in Surry.
He was born in Petersburg, the son of the late Orbrey C. and Audrey Gwaltney Boothe. Mr. Boothe retired March 1, 2002, after more than 31 years of service in law enforcement for the City of Colonial Heights. He was hired as a police and fire dispatcher and was later promoted to Patrolman on the city police department where he served for 16 years. He was appointed by Sheriff James Pond as a Colonial Heights Deputy Sheriff on July 22, 1987, and was later promoted to Captain and Chief Deputy by Sheriff Wave Tench.
O.C. was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War who served in the U.S. Army in the 11th Armored Calvary in Anloc, Vietnam, commanded by Colonel Patton, Regimental Commander, and son of the legendary General George S. Patton Jr.
