Harry "Bud" Burkart, 93, Brainerd, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. He was born on Sept. 18, 1911, in Vinton, Iowa, to John Henry and Flora Mina Estelle (Pettit) Burkart. He married Violet Katherine Davis who passed away on Jan. 12, 1967. During World War II he served with the United States Air Force stationed at a hospital unit in Bakersfield, Calif. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad.
He is survived by his son, Verl, of Plattmouth, Neb.; his sister, Ellen Davis, of Brainerd; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; five sisters; and his wife, Violet.
Services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ron Keysor officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Backus. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
