Mary Lou Hughey, 75, widow of Henry Furman Hughey Sr., died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Toccoa Nursing Center.

Born in Simpsonville, she was a daughter of the late William Haskell and Nina Olivia White Smith.

Mrs. Hughey was a homemaker, and was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Elaine and James McCoy of Honea Path and Cynthia and Michael Cox of Toccoa, Ga.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hellen S. DuVall of Greenville, Martha R. Mahoney of Martin, and Kathrine O. Marko of Travelers Rest; and a brother, Michael D. Smith of Greenville. She was preceded in death by a son, Henry Hughey Jr.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 23, 2006, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held before the service, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
