Helen (Matso) Minck, age 78 of New Milford, previously of Brookfield and Danbury, died very peacefully Tuesday, October 28, 2008. She was the wife of James Minck of Danbury. Helen was born in Scranton, Pa., October 23, 1930, the daughter of John and Mary Matso. Helen was raised in Scranton, graduated from high school and later attended Marywood College before moving to Brookfield where she resided for 46 years. Helen was a homemaker who happily raised her children. She was a girl scout leader, cheerleading coach and enjoyed participating with her children in all their activities. She was an active member of St. Joseph's School and Parish for many years. She then worked for 18 years at Danbury Hospital before her retirement. Helen was a cherished mother and grandmother, who devoted herself to her children and precious granddaughters. In addition to her husband Jim, Helen is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mahoney and husband, Peter of Redding; her son, James Minck Jr. and his fiance, Andrea Marquez Bottome of New York City; her granddaughters, Kelly and Caroline Mahoney; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church in Redding, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810. The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
