Entered into eternal rest the afternoon of September 9, 2003, W. Marvin Gladney, husband of Ethel McAlhany Gladney. Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. W. Marvin Gladney are invited to attend the funeral service of the former in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, Friday, September 12, 2003 at twelve o clock (noon). Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr s North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, Friday one hour prior to the service. Born October 4, 1914 in Pinson, Tennessee, Mr. Gladney was the son of the late Walter A. and Maggie Smith Gladney. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Gladney attended Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, the Lee Sunday School Class and was a member of The Airstream Camping Club. Surviving Mr. Gladney are his wife of 61 years, Ethel M. Gladney of Charleston; a daughter, Joan G. Byrd and son-in-law, Steven Byrd of Tallahassee, Florida; two sons, Dennis A. Gladney of Hanahan, Ronald M. Gladney of Isle of Palms and two grandsons, Justin Bryd and Matthew Byrd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, PO Box 70396, N. Charleston, SC 29405 or to the Always & Forever Memorial and Honor Program, American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton OH 44720.
