Violet was born June 16, 1930 in Dallas Wisconsin. She grew up in Dallas and later lived in Sweet Home, Oregon for eight years and moved to Littlefork, MN. in 1978 where she has lived since.
She enjoyed writing poetry, painting, playing scrabble, writing novels for which she has had published. She was invited to New York for poetry reading with the International Society of Poets and received the Distinguished Member Award. She also received the Editor Choice Award for out standing achievement in poetry for her poem "Someone Cared" and was published in the International Library of Poets for "Second Chance". She was a member of the Humane Society for over ten years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Christ and Agnes (Nelson) Amundson a son Rodney Dean Monroe and a grandson.
She is survived by her spouse of 36 years Harry Monroe. Two sons Daniel Monroe of Palm Bay, FL. John Monroe of Littlefork, three daughters, Linda Monroe of Palm Bay, FL., Susan Arduengo of Brandon, FL. and Debbie Monroe of Myrtle Beach, So. Carolina. Five Grandchildren and one Great-grandson. Two Brothers Ralph Amundson and Jim Amundson both of Falls Creek, WS. Three sisters Myrtle Horn of Minneapolis and Winter haven, Florida and Nila Steel of Oroville, Washington and Adeline Owens of Pell City, AL. A special cousin Wanda Kohls.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm. Monday April 5, 2004 at the Green-Larsen Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the Funeral.
Interment will be in the Oakley Cemetery, Littlefork, MN.
Arrangements are with Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc., Int'l Falls, MN.
