HER TALE OF WOE
Wants a Divorce and Says Her Hubby Does Bad Things
Through her attorney, C. R. Worrall, Mrs. Lydia Bass yesterday filed suit for divorce from her husband, Benjamin Bass. In her complaint she alleges that she was married to the defendant at Indianapolis, February 15, 1865, and has since lived with him as his wife. She further alleges that he treats her cruelly and inhumanly, curses and abuses her, strikes and beats her. Admits that he is going with women of bad repute and is spending his money on them and that he intends to do so in the future, and that he spent days and nights at the homes of these women. She further alleges that he has refused to pay the physician's fees for attendance on the plaintiff while she was sick and that he neglected her while confined to her bed and that while she was sick he left her for days and nights and that he has failed for more than two years to make necessary provisions for the plaintiff's support.
She further prays the court to give her possession of all the property jointly in his and her name as alimony and to restore her maiden name, Lydia Harvey.
