SALINA/GREENWICH
- Lew beloved husband, father grandfather, brother and friend peace-fully left this earth May 18, 2002 surrounded by his family. He has fought a long hard battle from complications of injuries received in an industrial accident at Geneva Steel.

Lew was born in Nephi, Utah Oct. 20, 1940, to LaMar Soren and Veneta Hanna Williams Madsen. His childhood was spent in Mills and later Draper.

He was a Journeyman Sheet Metal and Iron Worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping boating, family get-togethers--in which the brothers did the cooking--and the lights of his life, his seven grandchildren.

He proudly served his country in the Army. He was a member of the LDS Church and was very proud to have baptized his only grandson on Easter weekend. He will always be remembered as "Grandpa, the big snugly bear with white hair."

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Jackie Gooch Madsen; their sons Andrew (Tina), Steven (Deanna) and Robert; their daughter Marti (Jason) Willden; grandchildren Katelin, Kara, Jesse, Shelbie, Ashley, Kodee and Kylee; brothers, Dwayne (Lou) Rodney (Beth), Dale (Bobby) and Reid (LaVerne); sisters; Marva Rae Stanger, Marla Kay (Steve) Webb; brother-in-law Dick Hamblin. Preceded in death by parents, father-in-law Jesse Gooch; sister Barbara Hamblin and three infant sons.

Funeral Services will be Thursday May 23, 11:00 a.m. in the Salina Stake Center, 98 West 400 North. Friends may call for viewing at Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, 150 East Main, Wednesday evening 7 to 9:00 p.m. and Salina Stake Center Thursday morning 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
