Ivy Truitt Fulgham went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at the Brownsboro United Methodist Church with the Revs. Larry Shackelford, Paul Woodworth and David Russell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Edom Cemetery under the direction of the Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors.

Ivy Truitt Fulgham was born Nov. 3, 1917 in Van Zandt County to Ivy Thomas and Nannie Savannah Brewer Fulgham, the second of six children.

He received a B.B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University in 1940. As a student, he worked as a dairyman, farmer, cowboy, painter, carpenter and was a fireman with the Highland Park Fire Department for three years. He was a volunteer fireman for 40 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was stationed at Shepherd Field in Wichita Falls and Hickham Field in Honolulu, Hawaii. After his discharge from the Air Force in January 1945, he served as an agent and salesman for Ford tractors in Brownsboro for a short time. He worked for the First State Bank of Brownsboro, and was instruemental in obtaining a charter for the First National Bank of Duncanville and owned the First State Bank of Ben Wheeler, where he served as president and chairman of the board. He was a charter member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas. He was also an insurance agent during this time. He retired from banking in June of 1986 and was honored as a 50 year member of the Texas Bankers Association, the Texas Relators Association and Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas, Hella Temple Grand Lodge, and was past member of the Grand Lodge, Brownsboro AF&AM Chapter. He was a former mayor of Brownsboro and a member of the Henderson County apprasil district. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Brownsboro, where he served as chairman of the board, trustee and chairman of the Finance Committee.

His wife of 60 years, Johnnie Lee Killingsworth Fulgham preceded him in death on Feb 18, 2002. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-laws, Pam and Randall Clayton of Brownsboro, and Athena and Randall Russell of Baytown; grandchildren and in-laws, Julie and Glenn Stern of Canton, Gina and Jack Thelen of Terrell, Chet Clayton of Ben Wheeler, Carey Russell of California, and Bartlette of Houston; and one great-grandson, Clayton David Stern of Canton. One brother, Dr. G. M. Fulgham and wife Francis of Malakoff, also surviving him as well as one sister-in-law, Swan Fulgham of Brownsboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nephews and great-nephews serving as pallbearers are, Victor Thompson, Joe Fulgham Jr., Jeff Fulgham Sr., Dale Crow, Stephen Fulgham, Stanley Fulgham, Kevin Fulgham, Jeff Fulgham Jr., Josh Fulgham, Bryan Fulgham, Ben Fulgham, Blake Fulgham, DOug Crow, Tommy Crow, Gary Wilson and Greg Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers are men of the Brownsboro United Methodist Church.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
