Erma Belle Currie, age 96, of Kennard passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Groveton Nursing Home. Erma was born December 23, 1926 in Kennard to parents, Maxie Virgil "Bug" Hill and Ollie Dora Westbrook Hill. She worked at Kennard ISD for 43 years as a school bus driver and was well respected by the children, parents and staff. Erma's home was always open to all her relatives where she enjoyed taking care of everyone also providing summer escapes for all her nieces and nephews. Everyone enjoyed her good cooking, her sense of humor and in the latter years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and talking, especially at the same time! Erma loved her family and The Lord with all her heart which she always openly expressed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kennard.

Erma is survived by son, Rex Currie and wife, Belinda of Hillister; grandchildren, Ann Waldrum and husband, Rusty of Groveton, Jennifer Tolar and husband, Bobby of Woodville, Russell Currie and wife, Judith of Grapeland, Keith Currie and wife, Catherine of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Cadie Belle Currie, Cason Reid, Hunt Reid, Jett Currie, Karoline Currie, Cannon Currie; sisters-in-law, Annie Hill of Groveton, Jean Currie of Woodville, Nelda Loving of Kennard; numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Carlos B. Currie; son, Dr. Allen Currie and wife, Dianne; parents, M. V. "Bug" and Ollie Hill; brothers, Deb Hill, Dean Hill and Jean Hill.

Funeral services for Erma Belle Currie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill Cemetery in Kennard, Texas.
