Dean and Jean on their 75th birthday were interviewed by the Houston County Courier and everyone was laughing listening to those two talk about fighting. My dad, Dean, said,"well I can still walk out on my front porch and chunk a rock at his house." World War II veterans, and they were stationed in Hawaii together. They were put together by President Roosevelt, at the request of my grandmother, Dora Ollie Westbrook Hill. She told President Roosevelt they had never been separated.

When one was sick they were both sick and when Dena had a gallbladder attack and surgery, Jean had to have it to or else had pains with him. Source: Ethel Hill Gallant.

The Heart of A Father
By Ethel Hill Gallant

I left this world of sickness
I left this world of pain.
I am now with my Heavenly Father
A new life I obtained.

I walked through the pearly gates
Entered that city so bright.
And when I met my Savior
My heart, leaped with delight.

I saw my mother and father,
and four of my brothers were there.
I was so glad to see them,
Their joy, I could now share.

I will miss my earthly family,
but you must go on with your lives.
Tell your children about Pawpaw
and that my love for them will abide.

Tell them I leave love as an inheritance
as they follow in my footsteps.
Remember to teach them about Jesus,
That His laws must be kept.

Stay on the straight and narrow
Don't look to the left or right.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
He'll guide you! He's there! He's the light!

Remember I always loved you.
Remember I always will.
Remember I'll always be there,
My Spirit you'll always feel.
