Jud Hemming, Business Man, Dies Suddenly
Member of Local Plumbing Firm is Heart Victim

Charles Gerald (Jud) Hemming, 58, well known local businessman and World War I veteran, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home, 908 Washinton Street. Death was due to a heart attack.
Mr. Hemming was a partner in the local plumbing firm of Walters and Hemming, having founded the business in 1926 with Herman Walters.

Mr. Hemming was born January 3, 1891, in Orton, Canada, and came to Traverse City with his parents at the age of eight. He attended local schools and in 1917 enlisted in the service in World War I. He served overseas for a year, and for distinguished service was decorated by the French government with the Crox de Guere.
Upon his return from the war, he was untied in marriage on July 21, 1919, to Esther Olson of this city.
Mr. Hemming was a member of Bowen-Holiday Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Billy, Robert and John, and one daughter, Jane, all of this city. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. William Fender of Detroit and Mrs. Charles L. DaFoe of Grand Rapids. His parents and one brother, John, preceded him in death.
The body was taken to the Hibbard funeral chapel, where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. John Grand Carlson will officiate and burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery.
