Richard was born to Charles & Daisy (Fergusion) Addis in Ill. At an early age the Addis family moved to Calif. where Dick grew up & attended school.
He spent many happy days hunting & fishing during his lifetime.
Early in World War II, he enlisted in the Army. He took his basic training at Camp Roberts, CA. Later he was sent to Europe. He was involved in the Beach Landings of Normandy along with many of the major battles of France & Germany.
After the war he decided to make the Army his career. He was stationed at Ft. Riley when he met & later married LaVerne Topliff, on Feb. 6, 1948. Together they were stationed in Germany & Okinawa. Later he spent one yr. in Korea. He was discharged at Ft. Irwin, CA.
He passed away at Colmery-O'Neil Medical Center in Topeka, KS. The grave side service was held by the Fort Riley Military Honor Guard.
