She was born Nov. 3, 1918, on the family acreage near Ada, Okla., to William E. and Lavina Taylor Breeden. She attended grade school and high school in Ada. Mrs. Compton was a child care provider and later she worked as a nurse's aide at Valley View Regional Hospital. She attended the First Baptist Church in Ada for many years and was involved in the church nursery for several years. She married E.L. Compton April 2, 1946, in Ada. He died Oct. 12, 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Compton and wife Becky, Ada, and Rod Compton and wife Sara, Newton, Kan; grandchildren, Kathryn Baker and husband Jeff, Kremlin, Okla, Jonna Compton, Ada, Nicole Compton, Neosho, Mo, and Marc Compton, Newton, Kan; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Bentley, and McQuinn Baker; a brother, Calvin Breeden, Ada; and a sister, Thelma Gurley, Hilton Head Island, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, William, Grant, George, Logan, and her twin Phillip.
