Toulon – Ira Monroe Chamberlain, 94, formerly of Toulon, died in the Dixon Health Care Center at 1 p.m. Saturday.

He had farmed, then had worked at Walworth in Kewanee for many years. He had served in both the Army and Navy in World War I.

Born Nov. 22, 1893, in West Jersey, son of Sylvester and Sarah Jane (Pacey) Chamberlain, he married Catherine Reintjes Sept. 26, 1922. She preceded him in death. One son also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Helen Cantwell of Toulon; three sons, Paul and Cletus, both of Joliet, and James of Toulon; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Thompson of West Jersey.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at St. Dominic's Cemetery, Wyoming, with the Rev. John Thua officiating. There will be no visitation. Kidd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
