A Korean Army veteran, he retired from the Department of Natural Resources working in maintenance. He was also a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church in Hardin, IL.
Joey was the son of the late Joseph P. and Helen (Droege) Baalman, Sr. Surviving are a brother, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Victor Baalman; and an infant sister, Phyllis Ann Baalman.
Visitation was held at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin, IL. The funeral was conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Meppen with Rev. Don Roberts officiating.
Requested memorials to masses, St. Joseph Cemetery or a charity of one's choice.
