George Wesley Gent is the son of Pearlie Mae (Smith)& Wesley Gent. He was raised in West Virginia and PA. He had 2 sisters and several brothers whom he was very close to. Worked the coal mines until he enlisted in the Army. Served in World War II. Was a business man in Chicago Illinois when he was shot by his wife and son. They wanted insurance money from him and they were drunk. He became completely paralyzed. He could only use one finger and was bed ridden. He is my great uncle and my family cared for him for 7 years before he died in my grandparents home from cancer. I remember Uncle George as a handsome, well dressed man. He was very tall. He spoiled us kids shamelessly when he would visit from Chicago. He was larger than life to us. He passed on Thanksgiving Day in 1987. He will always be missed by our family.
