Ira Lee McLain, oldest son of Henry and Eady McLain, was born near Davis City, IA, July 18, 1871 and died at Hartman, CO, April 3, 1932, being 60 years, 8 months 26 days.
He married Effie Mitchell, September 10, 1910. To this union were born 15 children, five baby boys dying in infancy, and the oldest daughter, Eady, at the age of 16 years. In 1920 they moved to Colorado near Hartman, where he has made his home.
Those to survive the deceased are his wife; Effie, nine children, Mrs. Alta Klassen of Billings, OK; John of Hartman, CO; Miss Avis of Mount Morrison, CO; Elizabeth, Beatrice, Anna, Freda, Eletha and Harry of Hartman, CO. A brother Delbert McLain of Davis City; one step-daughter, Ida Ruby, Hartman, and host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Hartman at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for Ira L. McLain, well known Hartman resident, who died at his home Sunday night at 11 o'clock. Rev. R.E. Drowns, assisted by L.L. Askew, conducted the service. Carl Paulson, LaRue Page, Mrs. Shelton, and Mr. Manka sang appropriate selections. Pallbearers were William Laughmiller, Harry Lawson, James Wells, Clayton Buck, Irwin Kemper and John Manning. Interment was made in the Hartman cemetery with the A. A. Morich Mortuary of Holly in charge.
