Keith Leon Bain, 84, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.

Celebration of life services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Field and the Rev. Chad Mantooth officiating, Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Keith was born May 2, 1924, in Hedley to Claude and Otha Bain. He retired from the funeral director business in 1961 and spent the next 40 years with American National Insurance Co. as both agent and manager of this area. He was an American patriot, serving his country in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a medic. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 700 in Clarendon and had served as Master of Hedley Lodge No. 991. He had been a Shriner and was a member of the Scottish Rite of Dallas. He was an active member of the Widowed Persons Service of Amarillo and Temple Baptist Church.

Keith was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He always had a kind word to say, a good sense of humor and spent his spare time helping others.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and by his beloved wife, Billie Bain.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Keith Bain of Dallas; a daughter, Connie Gilvin and husband John; two granddaughters, Casey Gandy and husband Bruce, Shannon Bowman and husband Clay; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Theresa McPherson and Letha Smith, both of Amarillo, Vera Smith of Kansas City and Anita Carothers of Trinidad; and a host of other family and friends.

The family suggests memorials be to Temple Baptist Church, 3208 Van Buren St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or The Salvation Army, 400 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79101.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
