Ed. Francis, Long Time Resident Here, Died Last Night in Rawlins.

Ed Francis, long time Saratoga resident, died last night at Memorial hospital and Rawlins were he had been a patient for the past weeks. He was born February 1, 1896.

After working on various ranches in the Valley for a number of years he accepted employment with the R. R. Crow & Co. in September 1939. He suffered a heart attack June 18 while at work at the mill here. He was a member of M-154.

He is survived by his widow, Leona; sons, Frank of Saratoga and Leonard of Salem, Ore.; and two daughters, Mrs. Barton Butler of Medford, Ore., and Mrs Milan Wall of Rawlins. Other survivors include two brothers and two sisters and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p. m. at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church with interment in the local Cemetery. McKelvey-Conroy funeral home of Rawlins are in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services for Ed Lee Francis, 61, Held Here Saturday

Funeral services for Ed Lee Francis, a Platte Valley resident or 57 years, were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Palmer officiating. Burial was in the Saratoga Cemetery.

Mr. Francis died Wednesday of last week at the hospital in Rawlins, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. He was 61.

Pallbearers were Walter Cornell, R. D. Young, Scott Barkhurst, Don Henderson, Frank Huntley and Robert O'Neil.

Mr. Francis was born in Richmond, MO, February 1, 1896, and came to the Platte Valley with his parents, Tom and Carolyn Francis, in 1900. He was married to Leona Caldwell in Craig, Colo., on July 30, 1920. He worked on various ranches over the valley, including 18 years as foreman of the Cushing ranch on North Spring Creek. He began work for R. R. Crow & Co. in September 1939 and belonged to the local Woodworkers Union of which he was a trustee.

Survivors include his widow Leona, two daughters, Mrs. Barton Butler of Medford, Ore., and Mrs. Milan Wall of Rawlins; two sons, Frank Francis of Saratoga and Leonard Francis of Salem, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Francis of California and Tom Francis of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Harold Mailman of Springville, Utah, and Mrs. Art Keithley of California.
