"Ex-firefighter's body discovered."
PLYMOUTH -- The body of retired Valparaiso Fire Department Assistant Chief Lee Anderson was found Saturday in the Yellow River near here. He appeared to have been dead more than a month, according to Marshall County Coroner George Deaton.
Anderson joined the department Jan. 13, 1958. He was a member of Central Christian Church, American Legion Post 94, VFW Post 988, Indiana Firemen's Association and the International Association of Firefighters. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea.
Survivors include: his wife, the former Betty L. Topper; two sons, Joseph of Valparaiso and James, with the U.S. Navy; his mother, Gussie (Locke) Anderson of Valparaiso; and three brothers, Edward, Carroll and Harold of Valparaiso.
