The beautifully located residence of F. Coreth, two and one-half miles west of town, on a mount about 300 feet above the level of the city, fell a prey to the flames Saturday morning about 9 o'clock. The fire originated in the upper part of a clothes closet, through some unknown cause. When discovered it had already spread to such dimensions that Mrs. Coreth and her two daughters, Mr. Coreth and son being absent, could not get it under control.
The building and all its contents, with the exception of some jewelry, a few clothes and bedding, was in less than three hours a heap of coals and ashes.
The loss is estimated at about $7,000, with only $750 insurance. - [New Braunfels Herald] – (The Guadalupe Gazette, Seguin, Tex, Dec 2, 1904)
