BAYLEY.--James Bayley, son of Gen. Joshua Bailey, of Newbury, Vermont, was born in that town, June 9th, 1784, and died on the morning of the 7th of July, without any extraordinary premonitions, and without a pang, in the 76th year of his age. The subject of this notice was married to a Miss Sirena Bigelow, of Rigate, (who survives him) when he was about 30 years of age--embraced religion soon after, being married, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. A difficulty sometime after occurred, relative to the Newbury Seminary, which caused him to ask for a certificate, which was granted him. He held this certificate till within the last year, when he presented it to the pastor of this Charge, and again united with the Church of his choice. He moved to this town in 1837, and purchased the farm on which he was deceased about 22 years after settling here. Deceased had been afflicted for eleven months with a paralytic affliction, which had very much impaired his earthly pilgrimage. Though not a church member, deceased always maintained a Christian life and character, and was evidently prepared for his Master's sudden coming. He lived esteemed, and died regretted.
