DETECTIVE DIES
VERMILLION FUNERAL HELD ON WEDNESDAY
Detective Sergeant Had Been on Police Force 25 Years.
Funeral services for Detective Sergeant Howard M. Vermillion, who died yesterday morning at Walter Reed hospital of heart disease, will be held Wedneday afternoon from his home, 240 Eighth street northeast. Burial will be in Congressional cemetery. The services will be in charge of the Harden post, Spanish-American War Veterans.
Surviving him are his wife, Lillian C. Vermillion, and two sons of a former marriage. He had been a member of the police department for 25 years, and a sergeant for 18 years.
Honorary pallbearer will be Maj. Edwin B. Hesse, Inspector G. Pratt, Ralph Givens, Joseph C. Crouse, Michael Mangum, and Max Kay. Active pallbearers will be Detective Sergeants H. E. Brody, I. E. Keck, B. W. Thompson, W. O. Emery, Patrick O'Brien and Clarence Talley.
