G. A. JOHNS DIES AT HOME IN CHARLESTON
Special to The Journal Gazette.
Charleston. Ill, March 4. G. A. Johns, veteran of the Civil war, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Turner, early Sunday morning alter a short illness from pneumonia. Funeral .services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church, with Rev. H. K. Tuttle officiating. Burial will be In Whetstone cemetery. Members of the G. A. R. will hold services at the graveside, Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Miller McKinzie and Mrs. Turner, both of this city, and Mrs. W. C. Peters of Mattoon; two sons, James Johns and Arthur Johns, both of Charleston, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Cox of this city. Mr. Johns was born in Pleasant Grove township March 19. 1844. He married Miss Abigail Level in February, 1866. She passed away twenty years ago.
