Eldridge E. Alderman of Lulu, was killed Wednesday night June 28th, about a mile west of Olustee by passenger train No. 39.

In what manner Alderman came to be on the track is not known, but the engineer realized that the engine had struck something living and the train was stopped and a search made, but the body was not found. When the train arrived at Lake City they got in touch with the section foreman who called Special Agent Jones at Jacksonville. Jones rushed to the scene by auto and found the body and notified Sheriff Joe Jones, Jr.

Sheriff Jones with Judge Frank Dowling held an inquest over the body and the following verdict was found: "We find that Eldridge E. Alderman came by his death on the night of June 28th by being struck by S.A.L. train No. 30."

Nothing of Alderman is known here except that he was from Lulu, but at his side was a Masonic identification card which he had evidently placed there to be seen before he died. It must have been between 2 and 3 hours that he was found after being struck and Special Agent Jones states that he gave a last gasp when he reached the body.
