HARVEY K. PARKER IS MY GREAT GRANDFATHER -- R. A. PARKER

Harvey K. Parker - born: 1829 Washington County, Illinois - died: February 13, 1894 Phenix, Greene County, Missouri - son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Williams) Parker. He first married Rebecca "Beckie" Jane Totton, daughter of Amos Totton, on December 8. 1867 Newton County, Missouri - they had four children: William S., John, Jesse, and Eliza. Rebecca died about 1880 Henry County, Missouri. Harvey's second wife was Martha Ann Totton and she died 1886 Missouri - they had one child: Laura Jane. His third marriage was to Julia Hughes February 13, 1887 Cedar County, Misouri and they had no children.

Parker - private - Company E, 10th Regiment, Missouri Infantry - age: 30 - joined for duty and enrolled: August 8, 1861, Nashville, Illinois for three years - company muster in roll of the organization named above - roll dated: August 12, 1861, St. Louis, Missouri - Special Order No. 104: Private Harvey Parker is detailed for special duty as a teamster and will accordingly report to Lt. W. C. Hurblot, June 17, 1863 -- company muster-out roll, dated: August 24, 1864 St. Louis, Missouri - last paid to April 30, 1864 - amount due: $1,000.00 - Fought in the Battle of Vicksburg, Mississippi where he was wounded. In 1882 and 1892 he filed for an Invalid Pension for the wounds he received in military service and was granted a pension for $8.00 a month. Flash burns to his eyes from an exploding cannon shell at Vicksburg caused him to go blind over the years.
