Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hocker, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1917, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. T. L. Ewing, South Sixth street, suddenly of a complication of diseases, at the age of 57 years. Mrs. Hocker was born ten miles northwest of Springfield and had resided in this county all her life. She was a member of the First United Brethren church.
Surviving are her husband, E. W. Hocker; one son, Devillia F. Hocker; one daughter, Mrs. T. L. Ewing; three brothers, Thomas, John and Charles Bailey; three grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Myers and Mrs. Sarah Sherman. - IL State Register, Springfield, IL, 12-26-1917
