Jerry "Bomber" Borman

Jerry Edward "Bomber" Borman, 52, of Fifth Street, Marietta, died at his home at 1:50 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 4, 2006).

He was born June 30, 1953, in Marietta, a son of the late Jerry Borman and of Mary Taylor Borman. He was a graduate of Marietta High School with the class of 1972. He served with the 82nd Airborne Army in 1972 to 1973. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed life to its fullest and liked to make people laugh.

He was a well-known boxer and was the champion of West Virginia, and was well-known for his participation in many boxing contests from 1972 until 1995. He was also well-known as the "Karaoke King" of Marietta, and was also a very gifted singer. He enjoyed playing Pac-Man and was great with children who loved being with him.

His family enjoyed having him for a brother.

He married Carolyn Weekley, who survives. He is also survived by one son, Shane Borman and his wife, Michelle, of Lewisville, Ohio; and one daughter, Shawna Scott and her husband, Patrick, of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Ryan Scott and Zachary Scott; five sisters, Vicki Borman, Rene Borman, and Penny Daugherty and Don, all of Marietta, Nancy Borman of Tacoma, Wash., and Kathy Smith and Lyle of Belmont, W.Va.; two brothers, Tom Borman and his wife, Lori, and Dan Borman and his wife, Joan, of Marietta; and a number of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bluff Borman, and his wife, Edna Borman Benson, and Tom and Mildred Taylor, and his father, Jerry B. Borman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Longgrear officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. today until the hour of the service.

The family requests that contributions in his memory be made to the funeral home.
