Chico Enterprise, Monday, November 2, 1936: "Auto Accident Injuries Fatal To A.E. Crist. Without ever having regained consciousness since he was injured Wednesday evening in an automobile accident on the state highway near Vina, Arthur E. Crist, 65, died at 9:25 last evening at the Enloe hospital where he has been confined since his injury. Crist was a native of Iowa and had resided in Chico for more than 30 years, in recent years having operated a small cannery on Humboldt avenue. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Crist, of Chico, and six sisters, all residing in Southern and Central California. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of the Westfall Funeral home, the Elder L.E. Tupper of the Seventh Day Adventist church officiating. Burial will be in the Chico cemetery. Because of the circumstances surrounding the death, an inquest will be necessary but has not yet been set."

Oroville Mercury-Register, Tuesday, November 3, 1936: "Man Unconscious 100 Hours Dies. Chico -- Unconscious for 100 hours following an automobile accident, Arthur E. Crist, 65, cannery operator, died at a Chico hospital Sunday night. He received a brain concussion when he was knocked down after a truck driven by Ralph T. Speers of Chico, struck his automobile and trailer parked on the highway."

Chico Enterprise, Wednesday, November 4, 1936: "Funeral Services Held for A.E. Crist. Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Westfall funeral home for Arthur E. Crist, Elder Tupper of the Seventh day Adventist church officiating. Mrs. E.T. Trimble sang, `No Night There'; Mrs. Irma Carlson sang, `The Burden Bearer,' and a duett, `I'll Go With You,' was sung by Mrs. Sterling Owens and Mrs. George Daily. The chapel was filled with sorrowing friends, and a profusion of beautiful floral offerings told of the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Casket bearers were C.C. Carpenter, R.L. Hickok, Chris Jenson, Fabian Jenson, H.S. Levis and H.W. Newton. Burial was in Dayton cemetery."
