Death of C. Heidenreich

Chris. Heidenreich was born in Mecklinburg, Germany, on May 25th, 1849, and passed to his eternal rest on Monday morning, June 30th, 1930, at four o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Rettke. At the time of his death, the deceased was 81 years, one month and five days of age. Until about four years ago, he had been in fair health. Since that time the ravages of disease have been waging an endless struggle against the stalwart constitution of the man. But at last, nature, tired and worn from the long struggle, surrendered to the inevitable and the tired soul slept.
On October 24th, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Rohs, to which union seven children came to bless the hearts of the young aspiring husband and wife. In 1882, Mr. Heidenreich with his family, immigrated to America from the Fatherland, settling in Greenville Township, Ill., where they resided for about thirty-five years. Then retiring from strenuous activity, about twelve years ago, Walnut was chosen as the future home home, and it was here that they remained until both husband and wife answered the summons of the Angel Death.
On the 16th of May, 1926, the faithful wife heard the call from that "Bourne from which no traveler returns," and preceded her husband into the land of mysteries. Since that time, the aged sire has lived more or less alone in the old home. December last he was induced to live with the daughter in the east part of town, at least until warm weather came and his health improved, but for him to return home was not to be.
Besides numerous friends and relatives not of the immediate family circle, he leaves to mourn his going, Mrs. Fred Raabe of Manlius, Illinois; Mrs. Harry Krebs, Albert Heidenreich and Mrs. Frank Rettke of Walnut, Illinois; fifteen grand children and one great grandchild, namely Herbert Harry, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Christensen of Walnut, also one brother, John Heidenreich of Lester Prairie, Minnesota.
Funeral services were conducted from the Fourth Street Church of Christ in Walnut, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Thos. W. Bass officiating, with Rev. F. V. Kearns assisting. Interment was made in Walnut cemetery.
