Katherine, née Best, first married Lorenz Best, son of the famous Milwaukee, Wisconsin brewer, Jacob Best. Lorenz had one known child, Susanna Best, as named in Lorenz's 1853 probate papers. It is unknown as to whether she was also the daughter of Katherine or whether she might have been her stepdaughter. Susanna is not found in any records.

After Lorenz died in 1853, Katherine married John Prochazka, who was born in Austria in 1828 per a Milwaukee, Wisconsin Naturalization record. They had three known children: George Anthony who was born 3 Sep 1855 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Ferdinand who was born on 17 Jul 1860 in New York; and John who was born on 12 Oct 1862 in New York. The three children were named in John Prochazka's 1867 New York probate records.

George died on 24 Mar 1936 in East Orange, Essex, New Jersey. Burial details were not given in his obituaries, which described his background. Referred to as Dr., he was a chemist who studied abroad, was prominent in the development of the American dyeing industry and assisted the U.S. Tariff Commission with furthering the industry. Along with one of his brothers in 1898, he formed Central Dyestuff and Chemical Co. in Newark, New Jersey. His wife, two sons and a daughter survived him.
