LUCEDALE—Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church for Seren Emerson Ainsworth, 53, prominent Lucedale businessman and city alderman, who died unexpectedly Christmas night of an apparent heart attack.
The Rev. David Merritt will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with George County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A Smith County native, Mr. Ainsworth had lived in Lucedale for 30 years. He owned and operated Ainsworth Furniture Company.
A former manager of the Branch Bank of Leakesville, Mr. Ainsworth was serving his 12th year as alderman at the time of his death. He also served on the board of directors of the First Savings and Loan Assn. of Lucedale.
Mr. Ainsworth attended Perkinston Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce here, He was a World War II and Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Donnie Eubanks Ainsworth of Lucedale; four daughters, Mrs. Anne Pierce and Mrs. Rita Holcomb, both of Hattiesburg, Mrs. June Dressler of Lucedale and Miss Lana Ainsworth of Ole Miss; three sisters, Mrs. Allen Vowell, Mrs. Tommie Blakney, both of Taylorsville, and Mrs. Sue Russell of Laurel; a brother, Kimble Ainsworth of Jackson and five grandchildren.
