Horace O. "Shorty" Freeman, 79, of Cullman, passed away quietly on Monday, Nov. 10, at his home with his family. He was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Cullman to William Freeman and Vinnie Wilson Freeman. He proudly worked for the Cullman Electric Cooperative for 46 years, and was a working foreman at the time of his retirement. Affectionately known as "Shorty," he was a loving family member and friend to many. Horace was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Annie Lou Goggans Freeman.Survivors include three daughters, Mona (Mike) Thompson of Hartselle, Karen (John) Messersmith of Cullman and Ginger (Scott Bennett) Freeman of Monteagle, Tenn.; two sons, George (Vicky) Freeman of Knoxville, Tenn., and Glenn (Leigh McWilliams) Freeman of Birmingham; eight grandchildren, Pat (Debbie) Freeman, Krissy Freeman, Nicholas Bartlett, Megan Bartlett, Mallory Messersmith, Tommy Messersmith, Katie Freeman and Brooklyn Thompson; and a great-grandson, Cole Freeman.
