She was the daughter of Joseph "Joe" S. Mitchell and Wineford "Winnie" Jemima Richardson. She was the 6th born child of their 9 children. These were in order of birth: Sara "Sallie" Bankston, Frances "Fannie", Josie, Miles, Martin, Abbie Lee Nora, Nealie Mae, Dora E. and Fressie W. Mitchell. She also had 4 half siblings from her father's first marriage. These were in order of birth: John Wiley, Ellen R., Mary R. and Joseph Franklin "Frank" Mitchell.

She married Sandy Thomas "S.T" or "Bud" Dixon from Clayton, Barbour County, Alabama on 01 May 1913 in the Bride's home. THey were wed by Minister J. W. Reynolds.

They moved to the Dothan, Alabama area somewhere around 1936. They had 14 children together and 11 of these lived to adulthood.

Abbie was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Midland City, Dale County, Alabama.

She died from complications resulting from breaking a hip in a fall at home. She died at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. Her husband, S.T. died two days later due to a stroke he had which put him in the hospital before she had her fall.

Because they died just two days apart, it is felt due to their long marriage and raising such a large family together that they were soulmates and left this earthly world together.
