Harry Leving Malin was born on November 23, 1882, in Wyandot County, Ohio, the son of Henry Harrison Malin and Viola Alice Stalter. The Malins moved from Wyandot County, Ohio to Walnut, Illinois, about 1886, where, on April 5, 1888, Viola (Stalter) Malin died following the birth of her fifth child. Harry was adopted in 1891 by George L. and Wilhelmine "Minnie" (Glafka) Krebs and grew to manhood on the Krebs farm in Manlius Township, Bureau County, Illinois. On February 6, 1907, Harry married Lena Heidenreich in Greenville Township, Bureau County. Three children were born into this union. Harry eventually took over the farming operations from George L. Krebs, which he continued until his death on September 4, 1940.
