Margery was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Radnor Township, Peoria County, the daughter of Roy and Mary Carroll Ratcliff.
She is survived by two brothers, John (Lois) Ratcliff of Sparland and Vincent Ratcliff of Wyoming; and two sisters, Helen Anne Clifford of Chillicothe and Mary Jane (Anil) Verna of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and 17 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Eddy, Philip, Michael and Roy Francis "Buddy."
She received her bachelor's degree from ISU in 1930 and began teaching in a one-room school in rural Princeville. She later taught at Henry Grade School, was principal of Valley Consolidated School, then taught at Central Grade School and Westmont Grade School in Westmont, Ill. Margery earned her master's degree from Loyola University in Chicago and took a sabbatical at the University of North Carolina. From 1965 to 1990 she was a professor at Augustana College in Rock Island, where she retired as director of the Education Department.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers over the years at Country Comfort at Henry and Heritage Health and especially Hospice Compassus for the special care and comfort they provided.
Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Princeville.
